Warsaw Chopin Airport (IATA: WAW, ICAO: EPWA) is the primary international airport serving Warsaw, the capital of Poland, and the busiest airport in the country. Located about 10 km southwest of Warsaw city centre in the Włochy district, WAW is the main hub for LOT Polish Airlines (LO) and a key base for Wizz Air (W6), Ryanair (FR), and Enter Air (E4).
Opened in 1934 as Warsaw Okęcie Airport, it was renamed in 2001 after the Polish composer Frédéric Chopin. It handles approximately 40% of Poland’s total air passenger traffic. The airport operates two passenger terminals — Terminal A (the main terminal, opened in 1992 and expanded in 2008) and Terminal Etjuda (used by low-cost carriers). The airport also has a dedicated cargo area and is connected to Warsaw by the S2 expressway, the SKM Szybka Kolej Miejska suburban railway, and several bus routes.

Warsaw Chopin Airport operates two passenger terminals — Terminal A and Terminal Etjuda — connected by a covered walkway.
Terminal A is the main terminal, opened in 1992 and significantly expanded in 2008. It handles most international and domestic flights, including all LOT Polish Airlines (LO) operations, as well as flights by British Airways (BA), Lufthansa (LH), Air France (AF), KLM (KL), Emirates (EK), and Qatar Airways (QR). It features a large duty-free area, multiple lounges (including the LOT Elite Lounge and the Preludium Lounge), and a wide range of dining and shopping options.
Terminal Etjuda is a smaller facility used primarily by low-cost carriers such as Wizz Air (W6), Ryanair (FR), and Enter Air (E4). It was previously known as Terminal 1 (Etiuda) and reopened in 2015 after renovation. It is connected to Terminal A by a covered walkway and offers a simplified check-in experience.
The airport also has a dedicated cargo area and a separate general aviation terminal. The railway station (Warszawa Lotnisko Chopina) is located directly beneath Terminal A, providing fast access to Warsaw city centre.
The minimum connection time at WAW is 45 minutes for Schengen-to-Schengen transfers and 60 minutes for international-to-international transfers.

SKM Suburban Railway
The SKM suburban railway (line S2) connects the airport directly to Warsaw city centre, with stops at Warszawa Śródmieście and Warszawa Centralna. Trains run every 20–30 minutes. The journey to Warszawa Centralna takes about 25 minutes. A single ticket costs approximately PLN 4.40 (approximately $1.10). The station (Warszawa Lotnisko Chopina) is located directly beneath Terminal A.
Bus
Several bus routes connect the airport to various parts of Warsaw, including routes 148, 175, 188, and N32 (night bus). Bus 175 runs to the Old Town and Warsaw Central Station. Buses run every 10–20 minutes from 04:30 to 23:00. Fares are integrated with the Warsaw public transport system: a 20-minute ticket costs PLN 3.40, and a 75-minute ticket costs PLN 4.40. Tickets can be purchased via the Warszawski Transport Publiczny app or at ticket machines.
Taxi
Official taxis are available 24/7 outside the Arrivals hall of both terminals. A journey to Warsaw city centre takes 20–30 minutes depending on traffic and costs approximately PLN 45–60 (approximately $11–15). Only licensed taxis (with the official Warsaw taxi logo and taxi light) should be used. Ride-hailing services like Uber and Bolt are also available and are usually slightly cheaper.
Ride-hailing
Uber, Bolt, and FreeNow operate at WAW. Pick-up zones are clearly marked outside each terminal. Prices are similar to taxis but can be higher during peak hours.
