Overview
Emirates (IATA: EK, ICAO: UAE) is the largest airline in the Middle East and the flagship carrier of the United Arab Emirates. Based in Dubai, the airline was founded in 1985 and has grown to become one of the world’s largest international carriers, serving over 150 destinations across six continents from its hub at Dubai International Airport (DXB).
Emirates operates a modern fleet of Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 aircraft, and is known for its premium service, extensive inflight entertainment system (ice), and award-winning First Class cabins. The airline is the largest operator of the Airbus A380 and one of the largest operators of the Boeing 777.
The airline is a subsidiary of The Emirates Group, which also includes dnata (ground handling) and Emirates SkyCargo. Emirates is not a member of any of the three major airline alliances — Star Alliance, oneworld, or SkyTeam — but has codeshare agreements with several carriers worldwide, including Qantas (QF), JetBlue (B6), and flydubai (FZ).
