Oslo Airport (IATA: OSL, ICAO: ENGM), also known as Oslo Airport, Gardermoen, is the primary international airport serving Oslo, the capital of Norway, and the busiest airport in the country. Located about 35 km northeast of Oslo city centre in the municipality of Ullensaker, OSL is the main hub for SAS (SK), Norwegian (DY), and Widerøe (WF), and the primary gateway to Norway.
Opened in October 1998, Oslo Airport replaced the older Fornebu Airport (FBU) as Oslo’s main international hub. The airport operates a single, large terminal building with three piers — Pier A (domestic flights), Pier B (Schengen and international flights), and Pier C (non-Schengen flights) — all connected airside. This single-terminal design makes OSL one of the most efficient airports in Europe for transfers, with a minimum connection time of just 35–50 minutes. The airport also has a dedicated cargo area and is directly connected to Oslo Central Station by the Flytoget express train and the Vy regional rail.

Terminals

The single-terminal design makes OSL one of the most efficient airports in Europe, allowing passengers to transfer between domestic and international flights on foot within minutes.
Pier A (Gates A1–A20) handles all domestic flights within Norway, including routes operated by SAS (SK), Norwegian (DY), and Widerøe (WF). It has its own security checkpoint and baggage claim area.
Pier B (Gates B1–B28) handles Schengen and international flights, including most European routes and some long-haul services. Airlines operating from Pier B include SAS (SK), Norwegian (DY), British Airways (BA), Lufthansa (LH), and Air France (AF).
Pier C (Gates C1–C10) is a separate, secure area for non-Schengen flights to destinations outside the Schengen Area, including the United States, United Kingdom, Asia, and the Middle East. Access to Pier C is via a walkway from the main terminal, and passengers must pass through passport control.
A dedicated domestic transfer facility at Gate D2 allows passengers arriving from international flights to connect directly to domestic Norwegian flights without collecting their luggage (for through-ticketed passengers on select airlines including SAS, Norwegian, KLM, Air France, and Emirates).

Transportation
Oslo Airport is well connected to Oslo city centre and the surrounding region through several transport options. The airport is located about 35 km northeast of Oslo, and its railway station is directly beneath the terminal building.
Flytoget (Airport Express Train)
The Flytoget Airport Express Train is the fastest option, connecting the airport directly to Oslo Central Station (Oslo S) in 19 minutes. Trains run every 10 minutes during the day and every 20 minutes in the early morning and late evening. A single ticket costs approximately NOK 240 (approximately $23). The Flytoget also stops at Lillestrøm and Oslo Airport’s other stations. The platform is located directly beneath the terminal, with escalators and elevators from the arrivals hall.
Vy (National Rail) Regional Trains
Vy operates regional trains on the same tracks as the Flytoget, stopping at several suburban stations before reaching Oslo S. The journey takes 22–28 minutes and is significantly cheaper than the Flytoget, with fares starting from NOK 120. Trains run every 20–30 minutes. This is the option most locals use, and Oslo Pass holders can use it for free. Tickets can be purchased via the Vy app or at Entur ticketing machines.
Flybussen (Airport Coach)
Flybussen operates several routes between the airport and Oslo city centre, including the central bus terminal, major hotels, and residential areas. Buses run every 20 minutes during the day and less frequently at night. The journey to the city centre takes about 50–60 minutes. Fares start from NOK 199. This is a convenient option if your hotel is near a bus stop.
Taxi
Official taxis are available 24/7 outside the Arrivals hall. A fixed-price taxi to Oslo city centre costs around NOK 900–1,100 (approximately $85–105). Ride-hailing services like Bolt and Uber are also available and are usually slightly cheaper. Travelers are advised to order taxis through the machines just outside the arrivals hall, which display fares from all available companies, and to avoid taking unbooked taxis from the curb.

Car Rental
