Punta Cana International Airport (IATA: PUJ, ICAO: MDPC) is the primary international airport serving Punta Cana, a resort town on the eastern coast of the Dominican Republic, and the busiest airport in the country by passenger traffic. Located less than 10 minutes from the Puntacana Resort & Club, PUJ is strategically designed to ensure guests are not disturbed by aircraft noise while benefiting from the airport’s proximity.
Opened in 1983, Punta Cana International Airport was the first privately owned international airport in the world. It operates two main terminals — Terminal A and Terminal B — along with a Satellite Building, VIP terminals, and a dedicated FBO for executive and private aviation. The airport is famous for its unique “island style” architecture, featuring large open-air terminals with roofs made of palm fronds. The Main Building has 22 gates on the first floor, while the Satellite Building has 9 gates on the second floor (A14-A21) for large aircraft.

Terminals
Punta Cana International Airport operates two main passenger terminals — Terminal A and Terminal B — along with a Satellite Building, VIP terminals, and a dedicated FBO for executive and private aviation. The airport is known for its unique “island style” architecture, with large open-air terminals and roofs made of palm fronds.
Terminal A handles both domestic and international flights and features 18 aircraft gates, distributed as follows: 11 positions to the south, 5 positions to the north, and 2 auxiliary positions at the former taxiway C. The Satellite Building, connected to Terminal A, has 9 gates on the second floor (A14-A21) for large aircraft. Terminal A houses Migration and Customs facilities, along with an information counter, duty-free shops, VIP lounge, transit/connections area, children’s recreation space, and a waiting area.
Terminal B handles both domestic and international flights and is used by airlines including JetBlue (B6), Frontier (F9), LATAM Perú (LP), Aeroméxico (AM), Sky Airline Perú (H2), and GlobalX (G6). As of July 15, 2026, Terminal A partially resumed check-in operations, with airlines including Air Canada (AC), Air Transat (TS), Avianca (AV), LOT Polish Airlines (LO), TUI Airways (BY), and WestJet (WS) returning their check-in processes to Terminal A.
The airport also has a Cargo Hub that serves as a distribution center from South America to Europe, the United States, and Canada, including cold rooms for the export of flowers, fruits, vegetables, and seafood.
The minimum connection time at PUJ is 60–90 minutes for most international transfers.

Taxi
Taxis are available on-site at the airport. A typical taxi ride to most major resorts takes about 15 minutes and costs approximately $25. Only official airport taxis should be used.
Car Rental
Car rental services are available on-site, including Avis, Hertz, Dollar, Budget, Europcar, Sixt, National, Payless, and InterRent. Rental counters are located in the Arrivals hall.

Bus to Santo Domingo
A public bus service connects Punta Cana to Santo Domingo. The bus station is located at the intersection of Verón (Plaza Sitrabapu, across from Banco BHD). Buses depart at 7:00, 9:00, and 11:00 in the morning, and 13:00, 15:00, and 16:00 in the afternoon. The journey takes about 3 hours. Passengers must arrive at the station at least 1 hour before departure. Advance ticket purchase or reservation is not available.
