Overview
Muscat International Airport (IATA: MCT, ICAO: OOMS), formerly known as Seeb International Airport, is the primary international airport serving Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman. Located in the Seeb district, about 32 km west of Muscat city centre, MCT is the home base of Oman Air (WY) and the main gateway to Oman.
The airport opened its new state-of-the-art terminal in March 2018, replacing the older terminal building. The new terminal is one of the largest in the region, with an initial capacity of 20 million passengers per year and the ability to expand to 48 million. It features 96 check-in counters, 29 gates, 10 baggage claim belts, and a large duty-free area inspired by traditional Omani architecture. The terminal’s design incorporates elements of Omani heritage, including a distinctive wave-shaped roof and a central garden.
MCT connects over 60 destinations across the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and Africa, served by more than 25 airlines. Popular routes include Dubai (DXB), Doha (DOH), Abu Dhabi (AUH), London (LHR), Bangkok (BKK), Manila (MNL), Mumbai (BOM), and Kuala Lumpur (KUL). The airport is the main hub for Oman Air (WY), the national carrier of Oman.
In 2024, Muscat International Airport served over 15 million passengers. The airport is a key part of Oman’s Vision 2040, positioning the country as a major tourism and logistics hub in the region.

Terminals
Muscat International Airport operates a single modern passenger terminal that opened in March 2018, replacing the older terminal building. The new terminal is one of the largest in the region and is designed to handle both domestic and international flights.
The terminal is divided into two main areas — the Departures level and the Arrivals level — connected by a central processing hall. International and domestic flights are handled within the same terminal building, with dedicated gates for each.
The terminal features 96 check-in counters, 29 gates (including 10 contact gates with boarding bridges), and 10 baggage claim belts. It also includes a large duty-free area, multiple dining options, lounges (including the Oman Air Lounge and the Primeclass Lounge), a 4-star airport hotel (Aerotel Muscat), a spa, and a dedicated transit area for connecting passengers.
The airport’s design is inspired by traditional Omani architecture, with a distinctive wave-shaped roof and a central indoor garden that serves as a focal point for passengers. The terminal also features a dedicated Hajj and Umrah terminal for pilgrims travelling to Saudi Arabia.
The minimum connection time at MCT is 60 minutes for most transfers. All gates are within the same terminal, so transfers are quick and straightforward.

Transportation
Muscat International Airport is well connected to Muscat city centre and the rest of Oman through several transport options. The airport is located about 32 km west of central Muscat, in the Seeb district.
Taxi
Official orange and white taxis are available 24/7 outside the Arrivals hall. The journey to Muscat city centre costs approximately OMR 10–15 (approximately $26–39) and takes 30–45 minutes depending on traffic. A flat-rate airport taxi service is also available at the taxi counter inside the Arrivals hall.
Ride-hailing
Uber and OTaxi operate at MCT. Pick-up zones are clearly marked outside the terminal. Prices are usually 20–30% cheaper than regular taxis, but can be higher during peak hours.
Public Bus
Public buses operated by Mwasalat connect the airport to various parts of Muscat. Bus route A1 runs between the airport and Ruwi Bus Station, and route A2 connects the airport to Al Mabela. Fares start from OMR 0.500 (approximately $1.30). Buses run every 30–60 minutes from early morning to late evening.
Private Transfer

Car Rental
Major international and local car rental companies operate at MCT, including Hertz, Avis, Europcar, Budget, Sixt, and National. Pickup counters are located in the Arrivals hall of the main terminal.
