Gimpo International Airport (IATA: GMP, ICAO: RKSS) is the second international airport serving Seoul, South Korea, and the third busiest airport in the country after Incheon and Jeju. The airport is located in Gangseo-gu, approximately 15 kilometres (9 miles) west of Seoul’s city centre, making it the closest airport to the South Korean capital.

Gimpo was originally constructed as a Japanese Imperial Army base beginning in 1935 and was known as Kimpo Airport. It served as Seoul’s main international airport for decades until Incheon International Airport opened in 2001 and assumed the majority of international traffic. Today, Gimpo primarily handles domestic flights and short-haul international services to destinations across Asia, including Japan, China, and Taiwan.

The airport operates two passenger terminals: the Domestic Terminal and the International Terminal, connected by an airport shuttle bus. Gimpo is a hub for Asiana Airlines and Korean Air. In 2019, the airport served 25,448,416 passengers and handled 140,422 aircraft movements.

Gimpo features two asphalt runways: Runway 14L/32R measuring 3,600 × 45 metres and Runway 14R/32L measuring 3,200 × 60 metres. The airport is directly connected to Lotte Mall, which includes a department store, cinema, hotel, and shopping centre. Free Wi-Fi is available for up to 4 hours throughout the terminals.
