Terminal 1 is the older terminal, built in 1937 and refurbished in 2000. It is primarily used by low-cost carriers such as Wizz Air (W6) and Ryanair (FR), as well as charter flights. Terminal 2 is the newer and larger terminal, opened in 2006 and extended in 2013. Terminal 2 is directly connected to the Sofia Metro (Line 4) and features a large duty-free area, multiple lounges, and a wide range of dining and shopping options.
The airport also has a dedicated cargo area and a separate general aviation terminal. A new Terminal 3 is currently in the planning stages and will be connected to Terminal 2, increasing the airport’s annual passenger capacity to 20 million. The airport operates 24 hours a day.
