Jorge Chávez International Airport (IATA: LIM, ICAO: SPJC) is the main international and domestic airport serving Lima, the capital of Peru, and the busiest airport in the country. The airport is located in Callao, approximately 11 kilometres from the Historic Centre of Lima, and accounts for nearly 68% of Peru’s total passenger traffic. It is operated by Lima Airport Partners (LAP), a subsidiary of Fraport AG.
The airport is named after Jorge Chávez Dartnell, a pioneering Peruvian aviator. LIM serves as the primary hub for LATAM Perú, Sky Airline Perú, and JetSMART Perú, and is a key gateway between South America, North America, Europe, and Asia. The airport facilitates 100% of transit and transfer passengers in Peru and has established itself as a strategic connection point in the region.
In May 2025, the airport inaugurated its new single passenger terminal, a mega-infrastructure project described as the largest and most modern air terminal in Latin America. The new terminal has a starting area of 210,000 square metres, expandable to 270,000 square metres by 2026, and is capable of handling up to 40 million passengers annually by the end of 2025. The airport features a new control tower and a second runway (16R/34L), significantly increasing operational capacity.
In 2025, Jorge Chávez International Airport handled approximately 25.5 million passengers, a 4.1% increase over 2024 and 8.05% above pre-pandemic levels. International traffic exceeded 10.27 million passengers (up nearly 5%), while domestic traffic reached 15.22 million passengers (up 3.4%). Connecting traffic grew by over 21%, reaching more than 1.6 million passengers. The airport was recognised in Cirium’s Top 10 global punctuality ranking for 2025, achieving sixth position worldwide.
