Soekarno–Hatta International Airport (IATA: CGK, ICAO: WIII) is the primary international airport serving Jakarta, Indonesia, and the busiest airport in the country. Named after Indonesia’s first president and vice president, Soekarno and Mohammad Hatta, the airport is commonly known locally as Cengkareng Airport due to its location in Cengkareng, Tangerang, Banten.
The airport is located approximately 20–30 kilometres northwest of central Jakarta. It serves as the main hub for Garuda Indonesia, the national carrier, as well as Lion Air, Citilink, Batik Air, and Indonesia AirAsia. CGK is a major gateway between Indonesia and destinations across Southeast Asia, East Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Australia.
In 2025, Soekarno–Hatta International Airport recorded 54.95 million passenger movements, a slight increase of 0.3% compared to 54.80 million in 2024. During the 2025/2026 Christmas and New Year holiday period, the airport handled 3.52 million passengers across 23,300 flights, representing a 1.3% increase in passengers and a 1.6% increase in aircraft movements year-on-year. International traffic also grew significantly, with 17.3 million international border crossings recorded in 2025, an 8.3% increase from the previous year.
The airport operates three main passenger terminals — Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and Terminal 3 — connected by a free Skytrain automated people mover. Terminal 3 is the newest and largest, handling Garuda Indonesia and most international services. With over 50 airlines serving more than 90 direct destinations across 24 countries, CGK is one of the best-connected airports in Southeast Asia.
