Tan Son Nhat International Airport (IATA: SGN, ICAO: VVTS) is the primary international airport serving Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and the busiest airport in the country. Located in Tan Binh District, approximately 7 to 8 kilometres from the city centre, the airport is operated by Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV).

Tan Son Nhat was originally built during the French colonial period in the 1930s as a military airfield and gradually developed into the principal aviation gateway for southern Vietnam. The airport takes its name from the historic locality of Tan Son Nhat. SGN serves as a hub or key operating base for Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Bamboo Airways, Pacific Airlines, and several other carriers.

In 2025, Tan Son Nhat International Airport was expected to serve nearly 10 million passengers, comprising approximately 4 million international travellers and close to 6 million domestic passengers. During the summer of 2025, the newly opened T3 terminal handled more than 2 million domestic passengers on its own, accounting for nearly 40% of the airport’s total domestic traffic. During the 2026 Lunar New Year period, the airport set a historic record on its peak day (February 22), operating 1,069 flights and serving 177,859 passengers in a single day.

The airport currently operates three passenger terminals: T1 (domestic), T2 (international), and T3 (new domestic terminal, partially opened in April 2025). A free shuttle bus connects all three terminals, operating from 06:00 to 02:00 the following day, with departures every 10 to 15 minutes.
