Aden International Airport (IATA: ADE, ICAO: OYAA), formerly known as RAF Khormaksar, is the primary international airport serving Aden, the second-largest city in Yemen and the country’s economic capital. Located about 10 km northeast of Aden city centre in the Khormaksar district, ADE is the main hub for Yemenia (IY) operations in southern Yemen and the country’s second-busiest airport after Sanaa International Airport (SAH).
The airport opened in 1952 as a British Royal Air Force base and was converted to civilian use after Yemen’s independence. It is a joint civilian and military facility, sharing its runways with the Aden Air Base. The airport features a single passenger terminal, two runways, and a duty-free area. It operates 24 hours a day and can accommodate aircraft as large as the Boeing 747.
