Guadalajara International Airport (IATA: GDL, ICAO: MMGL), officially known as Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport, is the primary international airport serving Guadalajara, the capital of Jalisco, Mexico, and the third busiest airport in the country. The airport is located approximately 11 miles (17 km) south of downtown Guadalajara along the Guadalajara-Chapala Highway.
The airport is a major hub for Volaris, which flies to approximately 25 Mexican destinations from Guadalajara, and serves as a key gateway for western Mexico. It is operated by Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP), which has invested significantly in infrastructure improvements including a second runway inaugurated in July 2024.
GDL operates two passenger terminals connected by a free automated underground train (Tren Ligero). Terminal 1 is the larger, main terminal serving most domestic and international flights, including Volaris and various low-cost carriers. Terminal 2 is a smaller, modern facility used primarily by Viva Aerobus.
In 2025, Guadalajara International Airport served approximately 18.7 million passengers, maintaining its position as one of Mexico’s principal connectivity hubs. As of July 2026, the airport recorded 11 million passengers for the year to date, a growth of 4.0% compared to the same period in 2025, with 65 active routes.
