Zayed International Airport operates two passenger terminals: Terminal A and Terminal 2. In November 2023, the airport consolidated most operations into the new Terminal A, one of the largest airport terminals in the world by floor area.
Terminal A is the primary building for Etihad Airways (EY) and its partners, as well as most international airlines including British Airways (BA), Lufthansa (LH), Air France (AF), KLM (KL), and Turkish Airlines (TK). It has four piers (A, B, C, and D), a large duty-free area, multiple lounges, and a transit hotel.
Terminal 2 is smaller and is used for select regional flights and some low-cost carriers, including Air Arabia Abu Dhabi (3L) on certain routes. It is connected to Terminal A by a free shuttle bus running every 15 minutes, with a journey time of about 10 minutes.
Passengers connecting between flights in Terminal A should allow at least 60 minutes for transfer. The minimum connection time for Etihad Airways (EY) transfers is 75 minutes. Passengers transferring from Terminal A to Terminal 2 should allow at least 90 minutes.

Baggage Claim
After landing, follow the Arrivals signs to passport control (for international flights) and then to the baggage claim area. Baggage belts are displayed on screens inside the terminal and on the live arrivals board above.

Getting from AUH to the City
Zayed International Airport is well connected to Abu Dhabi city centre and the rest of the UAE through several transport options. Public buses, taxis, ride-hailing services, and private transfers all operate at the airport. A Metro line connecting the airport to the city is currently under development.
Public Bus
Abu Dhabi’s public bus network connects the airport to various parts of the city. Routes A1 (to Al Zahiyah) and A2 (to Khalifa City) run every 30 minutes. A single journey costs AED 2 (approximately $0.55) and must be paid with a Hafilat card, available at the airport. The journey to the city centre takes 45–60 minutes.
Airport Taxi
Official Abu Dhabi taxis wait outside the Arrivals Hall of Terminal A. The starting fare is AED 10, and a journey to central Abu Dhabi typically costs AED 70–90 (approximately $19–25). Journey time is 30–45 minutes depending on traffic.
Ride-hailing
Uber and Careem operate at AUH. Pick-up zones are clearly marked outside Terminal A. Prices are similar to taxis but can be higher during peak hours.
Private Transfer
Book a driver in advance for a stress-free arrival. Prices start from $30 for a sedan, including meet & greet in the arrivals hall. Popular with families and business travellers.
Etihad Chauffeur Service
Etihad Airways (EY) offers a complimentary chauffeur service for First Class and Business Class passengers, and for eligible Etihad Guest members. The service covers locations within the UAE and can be booked in advance through the airline.
Car Rental
Major international and local car rental companies operate at AUH, including Hertz, Avis, Europcar, Sixt, and Thrifty. Pickup counters are located in the Arrivals hall of Terminal A.
