Terminal 1 is the main terminal and the primary hub for Lufthansa (LH) and its Star Alliance partners, including United Airlines (UA), Air Canada (AC), and ANA (NH). It is divided into Concourses A, B, C, and Z. Concourse A handles Lufthansa (LH) and Star Alliance flights, Concourse B serves other international carriers, Concourse C is used for selected long-haul flights, and Concourse Z is a separate security area for flights to the United States and Israel.
Terminal 2 is used by most other international airlines, including Emirates (EK), Qatar Airways (QR), Singapore Airlines (SQ), and many oneworld and SkyTeam members. It has two concourses, D and E. Concourse D handles European flights and some international carriers, while Concourse E serves long-haul and intercontinental flights.
The Sky Line automated people mover connects Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 in about 2 minutes, running every 2–3 minutes. Free shuttle buses also connect the terminals. The airport’s two runways and two additional runways at the adjacent Frankfurt Airport military base make it one of the busiest in Europe.
The minimum connection time at FRA is 45 minutes for most transfers within the same terminal and 60–75 minutes for transfers between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

This is the fastest and most reliable option for reaching the city.
Long-Distance Trains
The airport’s long-distance train station (Fernbahnhof) is located at Terminal 1 and offers direct connections to major German cities such as Cologne, Munich, Berlin, and Hamburg, as well as international destinations like Amsterdam and Brussels. This is convenient for travellers continuing their journey by rail.
Taxi
Official taxis are available 24/7 outside the Arrivals hall of each terminal. The journey to Frankfurt city centre takes 20–30 minutes depending on traffic and costs approximately €30–40. Only licensed taxis should be used.
Ride-hailing
Uber and Bolt operate at FRA. Pick-up zones are clearly marked outside each terminal. Prices are similar to taxis but can be higher during peak hours.
Bus
Local buses connect the airport to various parts of Frankfurt and the surrounding region. Fares start from €3.40. This is the cheapest option but has longer journey times.
