Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport operates a single modern passenger terminal building — Terminal 2 — which handles all scheduled flights. Terminal 2 is split into two connected piers, Terminal 2A and Terminal 2B, joined by the SkyCourt, a five-storey central building that opened in March 2011 and houses the main security screening, shops, restaurants, and most of the airport’s lounges.
Terminal 2A is the Schengen pier, serving flights within the Schengen Area. It handles most of the Wizz Air (W6) and Ryanair (FR) European network, as well as Lufthansa Group (LH), Air France-KLM (AF/KL), and LOT (LO) rotations to their hubs. Because there is no border check for Schengen departures, the pier is deliberately lean, with a handful of cafes, a newsagent, and seating. Gates are numbered in the A range.
Terminal 2B is the non-Schengen pier, handling flights outside the Schengen Area, including the UK, Ireland, the United States, Canada, Turkey, the Gulf states, and Asia. It serves transatlantic services to Philadelphia (PHL) and Toronto (YYZ), as well as Gulf carriers, Turkish Airlines (TK), and long-haul routes to China and South Korea. Passengers departing from 2B must pass through passport control after security.
The older Terminal 1, a separate art-deco building located 2 km from Terminal 2, closed to scheduled flights in 2012 following the collapse of MALÉV Hungarian Airlines. It is now used as an events venue and is not open for passenger flights.

The 100E Airport Express bus connects Terminal 2 directly to Deák Ferenc tér in the heart of the city centre, stopping only at Kálvin tér (and Astoria late at night). Buses run 24 hours a day, every 6–10 minutes during the day and every 30–40 minutes overnight. The journey takes about 30–40 minutes. A special airport shuttle ticket costs HUF 2,500 and can be purchased with a bank card directly on board or at ticket machines at the airport. Standard city tickets and travel cards are not valid on the 100E. This is the cheapest and most direct option for reaching the city centre.
200E Bus + Metro Line 3
The 200E bus connects Terminal 2 to Kőbánya-Kispest metro station, where passengers can transfer to Metro Line 3 (M3) to reach the city centre. The total journey takes about 45–60 minutes. A standard 90-minute ticket costs HUF 850 and is valid for the entire journey, including the metro. This is the cheapest option for travellers with a BudapestGO app or a travel card.
Taxi (Főtaxi)
Főtaxi is the official airport taxi operator, with a fixed fare of HUF 18,000 (approximately €36) to the Pest side of the city centre. The journey takes 30–40 minutes depending on traffic. Only official taxis should be used. Ride-hailing services like Bolt and Uber also operate from designated pick-up zones just outside arrivals and are usually slightly cheaper.
