Tivat Airport (IATA: TIV, ICAO: LYTV), also known as Tivat International Airport, is the second international airport in Montenegro and the main gateway to the country’s Adriatic coast. Located about 4 km south of Tivat city centre in the Bay of Kotor area, TIV is the busier of Montenegro’s two international airports during the summer tourism season and serves the popular resort towns of Budva, Kotor, Herceg Novi, and Porto Montenegro.
Opened in 1957, Tivat Airport has grown to become a key seasonal hub for Adriatic tourism. The airport operates a single, modern passenger terminal that was extensively renovated and expanded in 2011, with further upgrades planned. Tivat Airport is well connected to Tivat city centre and the surrounding coastal region through several transport options. The airport is located about 4 km south of Tivat city centre in the Bay of Kotor area.
Bus
Public buses connect Tivat Airport to Tivat city centre, Budva, Kotor, and Herceg Novi. Buses run every 30–60 minutes during the summer season, with reduced frequencies in winter. The journey to Tivat city centre takes about 10 minutes, to Kotor about 20 minutes, and to Budva about 30–40 minutes. A single ticket costs approximately €1.00–3.00 depending on the destination and can be purchased from the driver.
Taxi
Official taxis are available 24/7 outside the Arrivals hall. The journey to Tivat city centre takes 5–10 minutes and costs approximately €5–10. To Kotor, approximately €15–20. To Budva, €25–35. Only licensed taxis should be used. Unofficial drivers sometimes solicit arriving passengers inside the terminal — these should be declined.
Ride-hailing
International ride-hailing services such as Uber and Bolt are not widely available in Montenegro. Local taxi apps and traditional taxis are the primary alternatives for private transport.
